A pre-season trialist whilst on the books of Torquay, his purpose in the squad was simply to gain some match time, and he scored a consolation goal against port Vale in his only appearance for the Yellows.  Benyon went on to have a solid career with Torquay United, and also turned out for Swindon, Wycombe and Southend.
