The unofficial archives of Tiverton Town Football Club
Stuart Fraser | |
01/08/1978 | |
Goalkeeper who arrived at Ladysmead with a decent pedigree having played in the Football League for Stoke City and Exeter City, and his Tivvy debut saw him deliver a spectacular performance in the delayed Devon Cup final against Torquay United. However, injuries that had plagued his professional career continued to hinder him and his form took a downturn in the second half of the season as Tivertom slumped down the table to miss out on a place in the Conference South, with many supporters blaming Fraser's erratic performances as the main reason for the disastrous run through March and April. Fraser had become a scapegoat for the lack of positive performances from a chronically dysfunctional team, and such is the way, one cuts from the bottom, so that summer saw his Tivvy carrer completed while those in charge remained.
