A one-match caretaker spell in charge of Tivvy, Hill had already built up a huge respect throughout the club, and his popularity almost burst the seal when he scored on the stroke of half time in that game against Paulton, giving the Yellows a 3-2 lead. However, in line with the form that had seen Mark Saunders depart, Tiverton lost the game, Hill readily took no further part in managerial decisions, and the briefest of tenures was at an end.
