The comprehensive history of Tiverton Town Football Club
Colin Marshall | |
25/10/1984 | |
One of the most naturally gifted players to turn out for Tiverton, Marshall's worst enemy was himself and his inability to stifle his own charisma saw him eventually allowed to leave the club despite his undoubted talent being of huge benefit on the pitch. Marshall's departure was a general snapshot of his career as a whole: he has never stayed with a club for more than a couple of seasons, and having won an FA Youth Cup winners' medal during his time with Aston Villa, he then went on a rather nomadic tour of the Scottish leagues, taking in five clubs in three years. Following his spell at Ladysmead he then went on a rather grander tour, playing in Spain, Iceland and Japan, and a return to his homeland with Cowdenbeth was sandwiched between two spells playing in Vanuatu. It was during his first spell with the Pacific Island side Amicale FC that he was part of the team which reached the OFC Champions League final, but Marshall missed a penalty as his side lost on aggregate to Auckland City. |
