Richard 'Dick' Forbes, midfielder, and one of the major catalysts that laid Tivvy down as a future giant of Western League football. Having played for Woking he was signed by Exeter City and spent four years at St James Park before his professional career appeared to come to an end when he signed for Bideford in 1981. However, he enjoyed a brief return to the full-time game with Plymouth Argyle, making five full appearances for the Pilgrims, only to return to Bideford in 1984. Late in the 1986/87 season Forbes was one of many players to leave Biddy, joining Tiverton for a four-year spell, and his vast experience was hugely influential as the Yellows turned the corner from perennial strugglers to genuine challengers.
