The Yellows, clearly wanting to put last Saturday’s defeat behind them, started brightly and in the opening few minutes won a corner; however, Luke Purnell was able to comfortably collect. Tiverton continued to be a threat and on 12 minutes a cross by Jordan Lam found Matt Wright at the back post but headed straight to the keeper.

The hosts were quickly wakened by the visitors early pressure and the next 15 minutes or so Tiverton’s defence were made to work hard, especially when Jacob Jagger-Cane’s cross-shot was clipped goalwards and Craig Woodman did brilliantly to clear it off the line. A few moments later, Lewis Williams Came up with a fine save pushing the ball past the post from a Scott Laird strike which was heading for the top corner.

The effervescent Nick McCootie was unlucky not to open the scoring just before the half hour mark, as he span around his marker but could only prod his shot at a charging Williams.

A forced change was made by the Yellows as Chris Shephard was unable to continue and made way for Olaf Koszela, and the substitute who was instrumental in the opening goal. An excellent run down the left before allowed him to find Wright in the box , the striker calmly able to slot home his first competitive goal this season.

Former Tivvy winger Jordan Bastin would always want to prove his worth against his former club and the second half caused the Yellows all sorts of problems at the back. Just before the hour mark he burst down the right before finding McCootie who drilled his shot into the bottom corner to equalise for the Seagulls.

Minutes later he would again be a thorn in our side, this time found in all sorts of space, shooting at Williams’ near post, but a sharp save denied the home side the lead.

A thunderbolt strike from Scott Laird gave the Seagulls the lead on 70 minutes, Bastin holding up the ball before finding Laird on the edge of the box to drill the ball into the top corner!

Both sides continued to create chances and with a few minutes to go, the hosts getting three points were looking likely until Morison’s shot was followed up and tapped in by Wright for his second of the afternoon.

Tiverton’s hard-fought comeback was almost undone in the dying seconds as Lloyd Humphries was allowed to drive forward and his shot cannoned back off the post before being cleared, signally the end of the opportunities, and the points shared.
