Tivvy‚ once again‚ gave Exeter a stern test and it has to be said‚ should feel agrieved not to have come away with a victory. Tivvy‚ for the first twenty minutes‚ gave Exeter a lesson in how to hold onto the ball and construct chances on goal. The game was just twelve minutes old when Kevin Nancekivell found himself in acres of space on the right wing‚ and crossed from the by-line for the outstanding Scott Rogers to power a header into the top corner from fifteen yards. Exeter´s new squad of players slowly started to pull themselves back into the game‚ but Tivvy took a two-nil lead into halftime after Nicky Marker prodded home following a scramble from a corner.
During the interval‚ Exeter manager Noel Blake summoned his entire squad into the changing room. Whatever he said certainly worked as the players came out fired up and started the second half with all guns blazing‚ although Tivvy continued to match them. It wasn´t until the 74th minute that Exeter scored their first goal‚ when Brian McCrystal - on trial from Leeds United‚ scored with a rasping right foot volley. Exeter saved their blushes‚ when in the 88th minute‚ Lebanese international striker‚ Wael Nazha shot across Paul Edwards´ goal into the bottom corner.

Line up: Paul Edwards‚ Micky Fallon‚ Neil Saunders‚ Paul Tatterton‚ Nick Marker‚ Scott Rogers‚ Kevin Nancekivell‚ Richard Pears‚ Dave Leonard‚ Stuart Smith‚ Dominic Richardson‚ Luke Vinnicombe‚ Ryan King‚ Kevin Squire‚ Russell Jee‚ Craig Dann.
