Neil Saunders started this game on the bench as Stuart Smith returned to the starting line-up. Paul Chenoweth replaced the absent Steve Daly and with Steve Ovens unailable we had the first chance to see the Everett - Lynch combination. They combined well in the very first minute‚ Lynch should have scored but keeper Mitchell did very well to save. Team Bath´s first effort came in the 13th minute‚ Langan shot well over. A minute later Everett´s shot cleared Devco‚ but sixty seconds later he atoned for that miss as Lynch´s excellent pass left him with time and space to side foot home. Two minutes later he could have scored again but his shot was blocked. Then Lynch had another great chance but Mitchell dived at his feet to smother. In the 25th minute Steve Winter´s superb cross from the right was headed powerfully over by Lynch. However two minutes later the students were level as the Tivvy defence went to sleep‚ Shaun Carr beat Tatterton and Marker before sending a crisp shot inside Paul Edwards right hand post. Lynch and Everett had further chances as the half went on‚ Chenoweth hit a 25 yard effort that drew a good save from Mitchell and Dave Leonard blasted over from six yards out. With the break just two minutes away Lynch should have scored but put his shot just wide with the keeper nowhere.

The second half. saw Hallam on for Edwards and Vinny on for Stuart Smith. In the 49th minute Carr volleyed a Wilmot cross just over‚ but barely sixty seconds had passed when Everett somehow got Chenoweths deflected header past Mitchell to give the home side the lead. It looked like a bicycle kick. but with Phil you never know. A spate of substitutions upset the flow of the game but the students had a Cable goal disallowed for offside in the 75 the minute and a minute later Everett suffered the same fate. With nine minutes to go a Scott Rogers direct free-kick from 20 yards was deflected home by Kevin Nancekivell‚ his fourth pre-season goal at home.
