Tiverton proved to be their own worst enemy as they fell to defeat at home to Swindon Supermarine.  Poor defending cost the Yellows, with Harry Williams heading in the opener, and Zac Kotwicka and Williams again capitalising on poor defending to seal victory for Swindon, despite Joe O’Loughlin’s second half equaliser for the hosts.

The home side started well, and the direct play from new signing Leighton Thomas almost led to the opening goal, only for Lucas Vowels to clip his shot over the bar. Thomas then had a good chance himself but was also unable to work Swindon goalkeeper Josh Gould. And with the game approaching half time Williams was found unmarked in the box from a free kick on the left to head past Lewis Williams to give Supermarine the lead.

The second half followed a similar pattern as Tiverton started on the front foot, and they were rewarded when Thomas played in Niall Thompson to cross for O’Loughlin to poke home at the far post. At that stage it was a deserved equaliser, but the balance soon shifted with Swindon the brighter side for the final thirty minutes.

Although Tivvy might have forged an equaliser in a prolonged goalmouth scramble, Supermarine held firm, and retook the lead when Kotwicka broke the offside trap to slot the ball past Williams. Eight minutes later the points were sealed as Williams grabbed his second, by curling a smart shot into the bottom corner as he was afforded space with the Yellows defence scrambling.
